The Vow is probably the most popular movie since this weekend because it was released so close to Valentine’s Day.
Last Saturday night, B and I went on our Valentine’s Day date earlier than the actual V-day because we don’t like to go at it the same time as everyone else was. We went to a movie and a quick dinner. I wanted to see Chronicle, but he insisted on seeing The Vow instead because it was a love story and he thought it apt for the coming occasion. So we watched it.
I felt heart pains starting in the middle of the movie up until the end. I didn’t cry, but I felt like crying that my throat hurt like there was a golf ball stuck there and no matter how hard I swallowed, it wouldn’t go away.
As what the title suggests, this is a love story about a married couple whose vows were tested by a tragic event.
I really don’t like romance/drama because I don’t like the feeling of being sad. I’ve been through depression and the mere feeling of being sad is too much for me. I just don’t like it. I also can’t help that I get too emotional and relate to every character in the movie.
I mean, that’s what the director and the producers want right?
I am like the perfect audience. ![]()

You can see the trailer as well as my version of a teaser, here.
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams look great together. I’ve always liked Rachel McAdams and watch her movies, even though I know there is a chance that it will make me cry.
So anyway, this movie is about a married couple who are so in love with each other and just when they were ready to take things to the next level, have children, because everything is going great, they get into a terrible car accident. That car accident causes Paige (Rachel McAdams) to lose her memory just before she met Leo (Channing Tatum). How awful for Leo right?
It becomes worse when she goes back to her ex-fiance and kisses him! She does try to remember Leo, but she just can’t. The story is just so heart-breaking, I don’t even want to talk about it.
For me the most heart-breaking scene was when Leo had to accept the fact that he has lost Paige and that he needs to let her go…
Leo: How do you look at the girl you love and tell yourself it’s time to walk away?
Paige: I hope that one day I can love the way that you love me…
The movie is said to be based on true events and at the end of the film a note comes out saying just that and that the couple who inspired the story are still together and now have 2 children, but that she never regained her memory. What a bummer. She had the most amazing 5 years of her life and she can’t remember.
It’s sad how good people have to suffer this kind of ordeal, it just shows that you really can’t have it all. I’m glad, I’m broke, then I can have a perfect love life and I wouldn’t be upsetting the balance and I don’t have to worry about my love life getting a tragic twist. ![]()
However, this movie also proves the theory, that no matter what happens, if two people are really meant to be together, love will find a way for them to be together.
I don’t ever want my life to be this tragic and I pray to God that nothing this tragic ever happens to me or my husband.
or to anyone I’m close to. ![]()
