The Bee Gees member, Robin Gibb finally succumbs to cancer at the age of 62.
I love music from the old days, in my opinion, songs from then are a lot better than songs today. Songs then were written from the heart and actually mean something and are actually based on real experiences and feelings and weren’t just written to make a profit. Today, songs are written with the intention to rake in a lot of money. It’s sad that today’s generation consider 3 lines of phrases and a catchy beat a good song.
Anyway, I have come up with a list of some of my favorite Bee Gees songs, I have posted one on my diary blog, How Deep Is Your Love, which was covered so many times by different artists like:
- Dionne Warwick – 1978
- Take That – 1996
- Backstreet Boys – 2003
- N’Sync – 2003
- En Vogue – 2003
- Red Hot Chili Peppers – 2006
- Lea Michele as Rachel Berry for Glee – 2012
How Deep Is Your Love is one of my favorite songs and here are the versions that I absolutely love.
I thought that this version by the Red Hot Chili Peppers rocked. Love!
I loved how Take That took the song and made it their own but not really changing it. This is definitely my favorite rendition of the song. It also helps that the boys from Take That are hot. I love Gary Barlow! How the woman was able to capture all 4 hotties will always remain a mystery to me though.
And then recently, Glee’s Rachel Berry, played by Lea Michele, did an amazing job with her rendition. Love love love!
Here are other songs from the Bee Gees that I absolutely love and have in my playlist.
I don’t care what anyone says, I think Staying Alive is one of the best songs during the disco era!
And last, but not the least, definitely a favorite! Alone.
This post is dedicated to the generation of today. This is what music is supposed to be like. This is how it’s supposed to be done. This is what makes the past generations superior to this one. This is how your future should be like. It doesn’t have to be the same genre, but at least exert an effort. Don’t settle for mediocrity when you can create great music with great lyrics that actually mean something and will make an impact in people’s lives.
