A few months ago, I came across the official trailer for Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles, a film by Erik Matti and I thought, finally, a movie that can compete with all the vampire/werewolf movies in the world. How awesome!
For you see, other cultures have vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, witches and even fairies, we Filipinos have the Aswang.
What is scary about the Aswang? Well, it’s the fact that it’s a combination of a vampire, werewolf, witch and a shape shifter in one.
It feeds on humans like a vampire, it’s favorite? Unborn babies still in the mother’s womb. It’s super strong and its senses are heightened just like a werewolf. It can shape shift into whatever form it wants and it can perform rituals to bewitch or lure a person to them, so they can eat them!
