I am huge fan of comic books and superheroes. You know that I am a huuuge Batman/Bruce Wayne fan right? So it is no wonder why I prefer the Justice League over the Avengers, although I do like some superheroes from the Avengers’ side too.
I don’t know when it started, all I know is I have seen every animated film there is to see about Batman and I absolutely love him. Anyway, this isn’t about Batman at all, it’s about his best friend, Superman.
Superman: Doomsday is the first DC Universe Animated Original Film created by Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics. It was released direct to video in September of 2007. It was loosely based on the storyline that appeared on Superman: The Man of Steel comic books in the early 90’s, The Death of Superman in 1992, it was followed by Funeral for a Friend in 1993 and Reign of the Supermen! in 1993.
MY THOUGHTS on SUPERMAN: DOOMSDAY
Superman to me is this invincible God-like superhero, and for him to die, will just be the end of me. Okay, I was exaggerating, I probably wouldn’t die, but I would be really really really really sad. I mean he can appear dead for a time and then he always seems to be able to bounce back somehow. It makes the villains feel that they stand a chance for a brief moment which is awesome, cause they get all confident and arrogant, it makes it so satisfying when Superman finally beats them.
I love this movie, I love the action and the drama of it all.

In this movie, Lois Lane is trying to prove that Lex Luthor is nothing but a crook. Clark Kent gets an assignment in Afghanistan. Lex Luthor is digging stuff up in a remote location and accidentally digs up a creature of war, specifically made to tear down anything in its path, it was locked by its creators in a containment and launched into space years ago and it somehow landed on Earth way before humans even existed (I suppose). Luthor’s men accidentally released the creature from his confinement and has wreaked its havoc on Metropolis.
Doomsday is an unfeeling creature and its sole purpose is to destroy and kill.
Meanwhile, in the Fortress of Solitude, Lois Lane pressures Superman to tell him about his other identity, she already has strong feelings that Clark Kent and Superman are one and the same, but she needs to hear it from him. But when Superman was about to tell her he is Clark Kent, he was alerted about the presence of the Doomsday Machine.
According to his prison he was known as a Doomsday device, nothing could stop it then, too bad for them, but luckily, Metropolis is protected by Superman. So Superman fought the creature and managed to defeat it. Unfortunately, he died doing so.
Or so the people of Metropolis thought so.
Lois Lane sought comfort from Martha Kent because she was devastated about Superman’s “supposed” death.
And then at Metropolis was attacked by Toyman, Superman appeared and saved the day. However, this Superman seems different. For one thing, he appeared to be shocked when Lois Lane kissed him and then he’s never gone to see his mother since he came back. Then it is revealed that this is NOT the real Superman, but a clone that Lex Luthor created. Which explains why he is the way he is. He only knows what Lex Luthor knows about Superman, and since he does not know Superman’s true identity and his relationship with Lois. This Superman killed Toyman, thereby scaring the people of Metropolis.
As a precaution, Lex put in a pea sized kryptonite covered in lead in his brain, and if he does anything Lex doesn’t like, he pushes a button and kills him. The Superman clone discovered this and extracted it from his brain, thus removing Lex Luthor’s threat.
Meanwhile in the Fortress of Solitude, the real Superman tries to recover. He learns of the Superman clone and tries to recover more quickly. He went back to Metropolis sporting a Black suit made with solar panels so he can better absorb the sunlight and recover much faster. Lois Lane figures it all out and finds out that Lex Luthor have more Superman clones in his laboratory. The clone destroys this all before the real Superman came back and they battled for Metropolis.
The real Superman defeats the clone and everything goes back to the way things are supposed to be.
